What to Expect on your First Visit

YOUR FIRST VISIT

Your acupuncturist will review your intake paperwork and will ask many questions regarding your current complaints, past medical history, social history and liftstyle.

They will then proceed with the diagnostic framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine which may include: body observations, examining of body parts including your tongue and face and examining the strength, rhythm and quality of your pulse.

Once the diagnosis is complete, they will discuss a treatment plan with you and answer any questions that you may have. The treatment may include use of needles, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, nutritional counseling, neuromuscular therapy and Chinese herbal medicine.

Some people feel very relaxed after a treatment while others feel energized.

Acupuncturists usually recommend 6 treatments done once a week for most conditions. After this time frame, they will reevaluate your case to see if further care is necessary.
